Picture this: a couple deeply in love, an awe-inspiring landscape, and an elopement that will be etched in their hearts forever. We’re taking you on a virtual journey to the magical realm of Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach in Iceland, where a couple’s dream elopement came to life against the backdrop of ice and wonder. Leah and Darin chose to elope near Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon for the incredible turquoise ice and black sand beaches! Its the perfect location for a glacier elopement in Iceland!
Elopement Ceremony In Front of Vatnajokull Glacier
They said their vows in a private spot off the side of the road with a view of the glacier and mountains in the background. It’s crazy how beautiful everywhere in Iceland is- you’ll want to stop every mile to take in the views! After they were married we popped champagne to celebrate!
Elopement Photography At Diamond Beach
Afterwards we headed to diamond beach, where L & D wandered around playing with pieces of glacial ice. This otherworldly shoreline is adorned with glistening ice diamonds – remnants of the icebergs that find their way to the ocean. Against this backdrop, our adventurous couple embraced, laughed, and shared stolen glances that spoke volumes. We had a quick stop to the famous fish & chips food truck located next to the glacial lagoon- probably the best fish & chips in Iceland! It was freezing and pouring rain while we were here so L & D were bundled up in their coats between photos!

The highlight of the day was cresting a hill to see the massive icebergs floating in the glacial lagoon below! Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon stands as a testament to nature’s artistry. The lagoon, nestled at the foot of Vatnajökull Glacier, is a place where icebergs break free and gracefully dance on glacial waters, creating a symphony of blue and white. Even with the pouring rain and freezing winds, L & D had an incredible time exploring the lagoon and enjoying being married! If you want to add some adventure to your day, consider adding on a zodiac boat tour through the lagoon or even an ice cave tour!

[…] Though not a glacier itself, the Jökulsárlón lagoon is the result of glacial runoff and chunks of glacial ice that float through the lagoon to the black sand beach on the Atlantic. The ice washes onto shore, giving it an almost diamond look and that’s where the beach gets its namesake – Diamond Beach! You can have your ceremony on the shores of the Atlantic at Diamond Beach, or you can even take a boat out into the lagoon or ice caves to get a closer look!
