Hi TherE

Jennifer and Kyle’s elopement at Mt. Rainier felt like stepping into a moody dream. October gave us one of those classic mountain days—low clouds, soft light, and just enough mystery to make everything feel extra intimate. We spent the day hiking the Skyline Trail, chasing little pockets of visibility and leaning into whatever the mountain wanted to give us. And honestly… it ended up being perfect.

A Cloudy Day on the Skyline Trail

From the start, the mountain was wrapped in thick clouds. Instead of those big, wide-open views Mt. Rainier is known for, we got something quieter. The kind of atmosphere that makes everything feel still and personal. Jennifer and Kyle didn’t let it faze them for a second. They laughed through it, took their time, and just enjoyed being out there together. That’s always the secret to a good elopement day—letting go of expectations and being fully in it. As we made our way up the Skyline Trail, the fog would shift every now and then, giving us quick glimpses of the surrounding peaks. Those little moments made everything feel even more special.

Getting Ready

One of my favorite parts of the day was when they got ready together at the top of the trail. No rush. No pressure. Just the two of them helping each other, adjusting layers, and soaking it all in. There’s something really grounding about doing things this way. It strips the day down to what actually matters and turns even the simple moments into something meaningful. Jennifer’s hair and makeup was done by Onsite Beauty Artistry and she looked amazing the entire day, despite hiking through wind and clouds!

Vows Above the Clouds

Right when it mattered most, the clouds lifted just enough. As Jennifer and Kyle read their vows, the surrounding mountains started to peek through. Not fully clear, not perfectly sunny—just soft, layered views fading in and out behind them. It felt quiet and wild at the same time. They stood there, completely in their own world, reading their vows while the mountain slowly revealed itself around them. It was one of those moments you can’t plan, but always hope for.

Leaning Into the Experience

We spent the rest of the day exploring, wandering the trail, and embracing whatever the weather threw at us. Wind, fog, a little chill—it didn’t matter. They were laughing the whole time. That’s the thing about an elopement at Mt. Rainier in October. It might not be “perfect” on paper, but it almost always ends up being unforgettable.

Tips for Your Elopement at Mt. Rainier

If you’re dreaming about your own elopement here, especially in the fall, here are a few things to keep in mind:

1. Expect unpredictable weather
Mt. Rainier does what it wants. October can mean sun, clouds, wind, rain, snow or all five in one hour. Come prepared and stay flexible.

2. Dress in layers
It can get cold fast, especially at higher elevations like the Skyline Trail. Bring jackets, thermals, and something you can easily take on and off.

3. Embrace the mood
Clouds and fog aren’t a bad thing. They create a completely different kind of beauty—more intimate, more emotional, and honestly, really stunning in photos.

4. Plan for a slower day
Give yourself time to hike, pause, and just be together. The best moments usually happen in between the “planned” ones.

5. Choose the right trail
The Skyline Trail is one of the best spots for variety—alpine views, wild terrain, and tons of little hidden areas to step away from crowds.
