Best Adventure Activities For Your Elopement in Washington State

Washington State is one of the most amazing places to elope! With incredible scenery and so many adventurous activities, it’s the perfect place for an adventure elopement! Here are some of the best activities for your elopement in Washington State!

1. Hiking

The number one activity to for your elopement in Washington State is hiking! With trails ranging from beginner to advanced, I’ll help you pick the perfect hike for your elopement day! Some of my favorite hikes are to fire lookouts (where you can even spend the night) and alpine lakes (especially in the fall)! To make your day even more adventurous, you could even turn your hike into a backpacking trip and get to even more spectacular locations! Check out this guide to a hiking elopement for more ideas!

2. Kayaking

There are so many incredible lakes for kayaking or canoeing in Washington State! My favorites are Lake Crescent in Olympic National Park and Lake Wenatchee, by Leavenworth, Washington. Both lakes have beautiful views of the mountains and crystal clear water! By kayaking around sunrise or sunset you could even have the entire lake to yourself! If you’re a fan of wildlife, you could even kayak with orcas in the San Juan Islands!

3. Camping

If you really love being immersed in nature, you might consider camping on your elopement day! Imagine waking up to the sound of birds chirping or a stream gurgling on your wedding day! Camping allows you to stay in more remote areas where you can have more privacy for your elopement. You don’t have to rough it on your elopement day though! Even if camping isn’t neccesarily your style, there are tons of glamping opportunities in Washington State! Some ideas are to rent a van or RV, stay in a luxury tent camp, or spend the night in a fire lookout! Check out this elopement in a vintage VW Westfalia for inspiration!

4. Rafting

For a truly adrenaline-pumping activity, consider white water rafting on your elopement day! Picture this- you spend the morning together at your secluded A-frame cabin, have a private ceremony in the mossy forest next to the river, a professional chef cooks you brunch to enjoy before getting ready to spend the afternoon rafting down the river! White water rafting is such a fun and unique way to spend your elopement day! Some of the best locations for it are the Skykomish River near Gold Bar, Washington and the Wenatchee River near Leavenworth, Washington.

5. Scenic Flights

Can’t decide between the mountains or the ocean for your elopement day? Consider a scenic flight so you can have the best of both worlds! You could start the day in Seattle, fly to Mt. Rainier National Park for epic photos with the mountain, then fly to the San Juan Islands and end your day with a sunset wildlife watching cruise! It doesn’t get more epic than this!

6. Whale Watching

Washington State is home to pods of orcas in the San Juan Islands! A fun way to spend your wedding day is sailing around searching for these incredible whales. Even if you don’t see any orcas, you’re sure to spot seals, bald eagles, porpoises, sea otters and more! You can even take a kayaking trip in the San Juan Islands to look for whales up to 5 days long and camp on secluded islands along the way- the best way to include multiple adventure activities for your elopement!

7. Snowshoeing

If you’re dreaming of a winter wonderland wedding, snowshoeing is the perfect activity for your elopement day! Just like with hiking, there are easy beginner snowshoe trails or more difficult trails depending on your experience. Artist Point is one of the easier snowshoe trails and has some of the most amazing mountain views! After your snowshoeing adventure and saying your vows surrounded by mountains, you could head back to your cozy cabin to warm up and have a private chef cook an amazing dinner!

8. Helicopter Rides

One of the coolest ways to see Washington State on your elopement day is from a helicopter! It’s possible to charter your own helicopter and visit all the best sights in Washington! You could start your day in Seattle, land at Mt. Rainier or the mountains in the North Cascades, and then head to Olympic National Park or the San Juan Islands for some time at the coast! Being able to see the landscapes from above is so magical and an amazing memory for your elopement day!

9. Skiing

If you love skiing or snowboarding, why not include it on your elopement day? Winter can be an amazing time for an elopement- as long as you’re dressed warmly you can have popular places all to yourself and who doesn’t love pine trees covered in snow? Skiing is definitely one of the more adventurous activities on this list but so much fun!
