Mount Storm King Hiking Elopement | Olympic National Park

Eloping in April in Olympic National Park can be unpredictable. On Bailee and Ian’s elopement day, the weather forecast had rain and snow up on the mountain where they were supposed to say their vows. We ended up completely changing plans and headed to Mount Storm King instead! This hike has some of the most incredible views over Lake Crescent but requires climbing 2000 ft up in only 4 miles and even using ropes to climb to the top! This hiking elopement in Olympic National Park is one of the most memorable days I’ve had in the park! For help planning your elopement in Olympic National Park make sure to check out my guide!

Getting Ready at Lake Sutherland

It was an early morning 6 AM wake up call for this hiking elopement! Bailee and Ian rented the coolest Airbnb on Lake Sutherland for their elopement! They got ready separately with the help of their best friends (with Bailee doing an amazing job on her own hair and makeup) before heading down to the dock for their first look! After getting ready, we drove over to the trailhead for Mount Storm King to start our hike!

Bailee had the most incredible bouquet made by Farm & Flower, the best florist in Port Angeles! It still looked amazing even after our 4 mile hike!

Mount Storm King Hike

It took us a couple of hours to make it to the top with lots of breaks along the way! Mount Storm King is a 4 mile hike with over 2000 feet of elevation gain which means it is very steep! The part of the hike you actually have to use ropes to make it up to the top! Bailee and Ian were such good sports with the difficulty and braved their fear of heights to reach the incredible view point! A hiking elopement can definitely be difficult but also so rewarding accomplishing something together on your wedding day!

Reception at Lake Sutherland

After our hike we headed back to their cabin on Lake Sutherland so Bailee and Ian could say their vows, pop champagne, have their first dance as a married couple and eat the most beautiful cake from Middle Name Baking Co! It was the perfect ending to their elopement day after such a difficult hike!
